  • Script to a 5min Podcast

This is one of the most important acts of spiritual upkeep and devotion a person can do and a pivotal action in order to grow spiritually.  What am i talking about?  Quiet time.  [You're listening to This This and That., your how when and why 101 podcast for young Christians and a Godgui7 Podcast.  This is winslow filling in for a very special episode on one of my favorite subjects: One on one time with God.]

Whether you call it Quiet Time, Face Time, or Devotions, putting aside time to spend alone with God is probably the most crucially beneficial aspect of living a devoted life for Christ.  What is a Quiet Time?  Well, a quiet time is simply a time where you seek to encounter God on a more personal, one on one, level.  It could be 15 minute or it could be 3 hours.  A Good way to think of it would be as date with God.   It's a time where you pray, read, and worship and connect with God.

It was in his quiet time that Martin Luther realized the need for change in the Catholic church. and that Martin Luther King found the inspiration and strength to continue to fight for greater social freedom.   It's a time where you can be totally alone with God and experience him first-hand.  In the Gospel stories,in the New Testament, Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John, you will find that Jesus was continually trying to find time to spend alone praying.  He'd often wake up early before the others were awake to have a Quiet Time.

So how and when do you actually have a quiet time?  Well, first, you're going to want to plan ahead, if you can.  Think of a place and time where toy can be totally alone and when you won't be interrupted and/or distracted.  If you can't find a place like this,  just do your best.  What's important is that your having a quiet time and even though it may feel a little less formal at first if other people are around, you'll begin to find ways for it to be more an more personal with time.  I find that the best time for me to have a quiet time would be early in the morning.  Even though it was a little difficult at first, getting up earlier to spend time with God has become an incredibly useful part of my day that i even look forward to in bed at night.  Try starting out by praying and reading your Bible.  you can pick up devotional books like the free Our Daily Bread which has some verses, deep thoughts, stories, and more to get you started.

Continue to have this quality time every day and before you know it, you'll be more connected to yourself and to god that you'll realize. [For more information, check out the show notes and articles on our website: HearWisdom.co
